On the “Headlines” tab is an article about the Presidential campaign by Military Times. Polling data suggest that Mr. Trump leads Secretary Clinton significantly among veterans and active duty soldiers. That piece was published on May 10, but it reveals much about the views of Mr. Trump among the well-defined demographic groups within the veteran and active duty communities.
The Democratic nominee … the reckless handling of classified material … the Benghazi disaster might have been a dereliction of duty … how she skirted small arms fire on a tarmac in Bosnia….
The Republican nominee … encouraging the Russians to sabotage anything in this country is–not good. By encouraging Putin to commit crimes against America, he’s clearly broken the oath WE took.
…to protect and defend…
But wavering Republicans see the Khan incident as the last straw. Disparaging the parents of a soldier killed while saving hundreds of lives, many of them soldiers under his command? Do the thousands of Gold Star families share no grief?
Mr. Trump routinely says he’ll “take care of our vets.” Really? In the early nineties, NYC Mayor Bloomberg was a driving force behind a Manhattan ordinance to allow disabled veterans to earn a living as street vendors on Fifth Avenue. In a letter to city officials, he whined: “While disabled veterans should be given every opportunity to earn a living, is it fair to do so to the detriment of the city as a whole or its tax paying citizens and businesses?”
Said a Vietnam-era veteran: “I consider him a loose cannon, a lying con artist, a draft-dodging chicken hawk who is totally unqualified to lead this country…”
The depth of Mr. Trump’s lambast is truly astounding.
Senator McCain, one of the most heroic of the millions of disabled veterans ever to fight for our flag. What?
It’s really not fair for anyone to defend Mr. Trump.
With his latest outrageous statements, his true colors don’t reflect well on veterans.
Mr. Trump’s track record is so public, so easily accessible that it’s easy fruit to snatch. His cruel comments are icing on the cake.
He won’t apologize under any circumstances — no matter how far he sinks the GOP. Republicans are in a virtual firefight with him, and down-ballot races will surely suffer because of his self-glorifying tantrums.
His surrogates are astonished and embarrassed. Evidently — most of his ‘supporters’ on Capitol Hill won’t retract their endorsements — but they’re trying to figure out how.
One candidate is a pathological liar–many politicians are well known for that. We can deal with being lied to, can’t we? Conservative voices are hoping for the next batch of emails. Quickly.
The other candidate is a babbling fool who’s throwing a smelly mess on the Republican Party.
Pick your poison–
Clinton: the most dishonest candidate ever to run for President? Trump: the most hostile to women, veterans, people with disabilities, ALL minorities…
