First, let’s understand that in a 24-hour period, 325,000 people enter the US by air daily and 109 of those people were detained by officials; one person out of every 3,000. It only took 19 foreign nationals to murder 3,000 Americans on 9-11. In preparation of this editorial, I read the Executive Order and based on the “spin” from the liberal media and their legion of lemmings, it is not something they apparently do.
The Executive Order addressed the visa-issuance process which plays a crucial role in detecting individuals with terrorist ties and stopping them from entering the United States. Before September 11, 2001, the State Department policy prevented consular officers from properly scrutinizing the visa applications of foreign nationals. We all know that numerous foreign-born individuals have been convicted or implicated in terrorism-related crimes since September 11, 2001, including foreign nationals who entered the United States after receiving visitor, student, or employment visas, or who entered through the United States refugee resettlement program. The United States must be vigilant during the visa-issuance process to ensure that those approved for admission do not intend to harm Americans and that they have no ties to terrorism.
The United States cannot, and should not, admit those who do not support the Constitution, or those who would place violent ideologies over American law. The visa-issuance process plays a crucial role in detecting individuals with terrorist ties and stopping them from entering the United States. Executive Orders draw authority from earlier legislation, including laws passed by Congress and the words “Islam”, “Muslim” and “Christian” appear nowhere in the Executive Order. The list of countries to which the Executive Order applies was previously drawn up by the Obama administration, with the Executive Order simply taking over this list. Even former President Obama banned asylum applications from Iraq for a 6 month period in 2011 because of terrorism fears. I did not hear an outcry from the liberals, protests at airports, or see crying Senators on TV.
In the end, those who are leading the campaign against the Executive Order are either soft on terrorists entering the US or they are anarchists. As the dust settles, the liberal snowflakes will be seen as spoiled children who stomp their feet at anything the President says or does, reacting to the liberal media’s spin machine rather than educating themselves on the facts.
It reminds me of an Admiral that came aboard our ship and who proceeded to conduct General Quarter’s drills day and night because we were not meeting the drill time. For a solid month, he had us scrapping paint and painting bulkheads until we got it right. In the end, we were ready for any aggression on our country and after all, wasn’t that our job?
Love him or hate him, Trump is our Commander in Chief. It appears to me that the Trump haters are just haters no matter what he says or does; lemmings following the fake news media over the cliff.
